Learn about the mysteries and myths of Loch Ness, visit Scottish estuaries and gaze at some of
the most breathtaking scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Scotland is famed for its monstrous lake inhabitant
and outstanding natural beauty – uncover both on this tour. Leaving from Edinburgh, head north towards
the Highlands on a comfortable coach. Ride over the red steel supports of the Fourth Railway Bridge and
make a quick stop in Pitlochry to savour a tasty home-made treat from local bakers. Delve further into the
rugged wilderness as you reach Cairngorm National Park and soak up the views of dramatic, craggy cliffs and
boggy, moss-covered hillsides. From the park, head to Fort Augustus and the banks of the infamous Loch
Ness. Enjoy a break for lunch or opt to board a ferry boat for a closer look at the mysterious waters that are
purported to hide the mythical aquatic creature. Just up the road, enter the stunning beauty of Glen Coe’s
steep, green hillsides. As you take in the sights, listen to your guide tell stories of the valley’s bloody history
and the 17th-century massacre of the MacDonald clan. On your return to Edinburgh, see the mediaeval city
of Stirling with its towering fairy-tale castle. Finish your tour with a solemn reflection at the William Wallace

Day 3 The Isle of Skye & Eilean Donan Castle from Inverness

After departing from Inverness we travel south, hugging the shoreline of Loch Ness to
Invermoriston. Loch Ness, 24 miles long and over 700ft deep, is most famous for its sightings of the Loch
Ness Monster, affectionately known as ‘Nessie’. Invermoriston is only about 30 miles from Inverness, we
stop for a short break here, allowing you the chance to perhaps see the monster yourself! After Loch Ness,
our Skye Tour continues on to Eilean Donan Castle*; one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. The
castle is situated on its own island at the head of Loch Duich. We take time here to explore the castle and its
atmospheric surroundings. After Eilean Donan, we continue our journey to the Isle of Skye, passing over the
Skye Bridge and on to the small village of Portree for our lunchtime stop. Portree, although a small harbour
village, is the capital of Skye, and is surrounded by rocky cliffs and rolling hills. Its beautiful surroundings
make it a perfect stop to have lunch and enjoy views of the boats. Moving on, we visit various points of
interest in Skye such as; Kilt Rock for amazing coastal views, take a short walk at Lealt Falls and admire the
Old Man of Storr. After spending the afternoon exploring Skye and admiring its stunning scenery we will
stop off on the return journey at Strome Viewpoint for photos of Loch Carron before continuing homeward
bound to Inverness, where your Isle of Skye day tour ends.
