Your Char Dham Yatra begins as you make your way to Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand and the gateway to the Himalayas. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and take some time to rest and settle in after the journey. The evening is free for a gentle stroll through the local markets or simply unwinding in preparation for the days of mountain travel ahead. Dinner and overnight stay at Dehradun.

After breakfast, begin the scenic drive towards Barkot through some of the most beautiful hill country in Uttarakhand. En route, stop at the beloved hill station of Mussoorie to soak in the cool mountain air and visit the famous Kempty Falls, where water tumbles down through lush green hills into a natural pool below. Continue through the winding mountain roads of Sayanachatti and Jankichatti, with the Himalayan scenery growing richer with every kilometre. Upon arrival in Barkot, check in at the hotel and relax amidst the peaceful surroundings of this quiet mountain town. Dinner and overnight stay at Barkot.

Rise early and drive to Jankichatti via Hanuman Chatti, the starting point for the trek to Yamunotri Temple. The 6-kilometre trail winds through forested mountain terrain, and pony, palki and doli services are available at an additional cost for those who need assistance. At the temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and standing as the first of the four Char Dham shrines, pilgrims traditionally cook rice in the steaming waters of Surya Kund to take home as prasad, offer prayers at Divya Shila and take a purifying dip in Jamunabai Kund before darshan. After breakfast, drive towards Uttarkashi, a deeply spiritual town nestled on the banks of the Bhagirathi River and an important stop on the Char Dham pilgrimage route. The journey brings you through mountain valleys and river views that grow more dramatic as you climb higher into the hills. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and visit the revered Vishwanath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the sacred Shakti Temple nearby, both of great ancient significance to pilgrims. Overnight at Uttarkashi
This is one of the most spectacular days of the entire yatra. Start early for a full-day excursion that takes you to three of the most beautiful and sacred places in Uttarakhand. Begin at the sacred Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga and the divine spiritual source of the holy River Ganga, situated at approximately 3,200 metres. Take a holy dip in the crystal-clear, ice-cold waters of the Bhagirathi, attend prayers at the temple and spend quiet, reflective moments surrounded by vast Himalayan peaks and sacred silence.
Continue to the spectacular Nelong Valley, a high-altitude cold desert near the Indo-China border with a raw, dramatic beauty that draws immediate comparisons to Ladakh, with deep gorges, sweeping arid plateaus and jagged Himalayan ridgelines stretching endlessly in every direction. En route, pause to explore the serene Harsil Valley, famous for its wooden mountain homes, fragrant apple orchards, tall pine forests and sparkling river views. After breakfast, depart for Guptkashi, the base camp for the Kedarnath Yatra, via the scenic route through Moolgarh and Lambgaon. The drive offers beautiful views of the Mandakini River descending from the heights of Kedarnath, with the landscape becoming increasingly dramatic as you approach Garhwal. Upon arrival, visit the ancient Ardh Narishwar Temple, a deeply sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in their combined cosmic form. This is the most spiritually powerful day of the entire yatra. Rise early and drive to Gaurikund, the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. From here, the trail winds upward through breathtaking Himalayan landscapes with glaciers, waterfalls, mountain streams and towering snow-capped peaks rising on all sides. The path is demanding but deeply rewarding, with every step drawing you closer to one of India’s most sacred places. Pony rides, palki and helicopter services are available at an additional cost for those who need assistance.
Upon reaching Kedarnath, check in at the guesthouse or camp and rest. In the evening, visit the sacred Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, standing at approximately 3,583 metres with great glaciers rising behind it. Wake before dawn to attend the morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple. After personal prayer and quiet reflection, begin the return trek down to Gaurikund. The descent offers new perspectives on the magnificent landscape surrounding this sacred site. After breakfast, begin the long and scenically magnificent drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. Arrive at Badrinath, situated at approximately 3,300 metres in the Garhwal Himalayas, and check in at the hotel. Visit the famous Badrinath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and take a purifying dip at Tapt Kund, a natural hot spring revered for its spiritual and medicinal properties. Visit Mana Village, steeped in mythology, and explore Vyas Gufa where the sage Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata, Ganesh Gufa and the sacred origin point of the Saraswati River. After breakfast, spend the morning exploring the gentle, spiritual world of Rishikesh. Walk across the iconic hanging bridges of Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula for lovely views over the Ganga, browse the riverside markets for souvenirs and sit by the ghats to soak in the town’s unhurried, sacred energy. Then drive to Haridwar, one of the holiest cities in India, and check in at the hotel. Spend the evening visiting the river ghats and local markets, and if the timing is right, attend another moving Ganga Aarti at the famous Har Ki Pauri ghat as the lamps are offered to the river at dusk.
